DSMAP was originally developed by Nick Sanders, as early as Feb 15, 2005. It was distributed by Nick himself, and on the dsm-ecu yahoo group.

The early versions included features:

• Three dimensional VE tuning
• Specialized logging software:
• Reset O2 Trims
• Adjust VE compensation
• Resize injectors
• Adjust studderbox rpm

dev null was founded by Curtis Hacker in early 2009, and authorized by Nick himself to take over the project. All future developments of DSMAP have gone under the name Jackal
